Safety Marking began as a small, family-owned striping business, playing a formative role in servicing county’s community parking lots.

Over the past thirty-five years, Safety Marking has redefined the marketplace by setting the industry standard with its products and services. We continuously test and refine our product-line in order to surpass our competitors. In this way, SMC has become a nationally respected leader in safety line markings.

Our company history is rich in service, innovation, and continuous growth. We are proud to share these important dates:

1973 Safety Marking Inc. is founded by President and Chief Operating Officer, Mark K. Kelly.
1988 Company launches a full-time highway and roadway marking operation.
1993 Company celebrates 20th anniversary and begins the first Connecticut state prime job.
1994 Safety Marking establishes new headquarters in Bridgeport, CT.
1995 SMC contracts first New York state prime job.
1996 SMC marks first Rhode Island state prime job.
1999 Company expands to Rhode Island and opens second office facility in Richmond.
2002 Long-term strategic planning leads Safety Marking to complete initial Port Authority of New York/New Jersey prime jobs; servicing LaGuardia, JFK, Newark, and Teterboro Airports.
2005 Safety Marking opens third office in Westbury, New York.
2007 Our goal is to strengthen the current three locations (Bridgeport, CT., Richmond RI., Westbury, NY), with a focus on providing the highest quality workmanship, superior customer service and competitive pricing. We continue to seek highly trained professionals who are knowledgeable in all facets of pavement striping. Our customer commitment and specialized attention to safety will remain our focus for the future.
